Oz dizi konusu; Oswald Hapishanesi'ne hoş geldiniz... Ama Oz adıyla da bilinen bu özel hapishaneye adım attığınzda, 'hoş bulduk' demek de biraz zorlanacaksınız; çünkü Oz'da sınır tanımayan, sert olaylara tanıklık edecek ve mahkûmlarla gardiyanların nasıl bir psikolojiye sahip olduklarını çok daha iyi anlayacaksınız...

Suçluları ıslah edebileceğini düşünen bir idealist olan Tim McManus (Kinney) tarafından yönetilen bu cezaevinin tüm sakinleri, kendi ihtiyaçlarını karşılayabilimek için mücadele veriyor; çete üyeleri, eşcinseller, Latinler, Müslümanlar... Kimi uyuşturucu ticareti ya da diğer gruplar üzerinde güç kazanabilmek için savaşıyor. Kimi paranın peşinde; kumar oynayarak ya da başka türlü dümenlerle paraya kavuşmaya çalışıyor. Bazı mahkûmlar ise sadece tahliye olabilecekleri günü görebilmek için hayatta kalmaya çalışıyor, hatta sadece yarını görebilmek için...
